White Island is not a permanent island: it only appears at low tide, for 2 to 4 hours each cycle, and disappears again as the tide comes in. That is why it is also called the Invisible Island. In the waters around it you can see colourful corals and tropical fish up close, and it is worth keeping a look out for turtles. In the region, trips tend to be best from March to May and from September to November, when the sea is calmer, and the time of the visit follows low tide.
