Soft corals cover the reef at Velassaru Beyru, a site offered as a night dive. On the island of Velassaru stood the three-and-a-half-star "Laguna Beach" resort, which was completely overhauled and renamed Velassaru. In October 2008 it was announced that Velassaru would open on 1 February 2009.
