Vashafaru sunrise

There are schools of jackfishes, oriental sweetlips and blue striped snappers, as well as nudibranchs and lobsters. If you are lucky, a guitar shark may be resting on the sandy bottom. In June 2025, the island of Vashafaru unveiled a monument to its maritime heritage at the harbour: a dhoni, the traditional boat, perched on a large coconut shell that works as a fountain, surrounded by smaller shells, a dolphin and a manta ray.
