Egypt
A pier of about 700 m crosses the lagoon and leads straight to the edge of the reef, with an intermediate platform about 250 m from the beach. Around the pillars and ladder of this platform, in the middle of the lagoon, live small morays and lionfish.
Near the pier, the corals are in very good condition and cover the entire reef, which has beautiful hard corals and giant clams, including maxima clams. By the pier there are several species of butterflyfish, Red Sea clownfish and sohal surgeonfish, and on the reef you can also see stingrays, anemones with clownfish, morays, triggerfish, scorpionfishes and nudibranchs. Turtles are seen very often, and reef sharks and barracudas occasionally appear. Spinner dolphins, often seen a little further offshore, will come closer to the reef. The reef's highlights also include the seagrass meadow and the abundance of fish.
In Marsa Alam, the sea tends to be warmer from April to October. At the site, the water usually ranges from 22 to 29 °C, depending on the season.
