Maldives
In the middle of the channel, pelagic fish such as dog-toothed tuna, eagle rays and jacks pass by. On the north side, small caves among gorgonians shelter schools of squirrelfish. Big boulders are surrounded by butterfly fishes and, with luck, eagle rays appear. Around the formations swim schools of masked bannerfish, surgeons, Moorish idols, striped fusiliers and emperors. In the northeast monsoon, from December to April, it is usually possible to see mantas passing over the thila.
