Maldives
Guests report baby reef sharks in the shallows in front of the villas, as well as sea turtles, eagle rays, stingrays and moray eels. The reef runs around the island, which is so small that you can walk around it in about 15 minutes.
Since 2015, guests have been able to name and adopt a coral frame, an iron structure covered with sand that the marine biologist stocks with rescued corals and places on the reef. Today, more than 300 coral frames provide shelter for countless marine creatures.
In 2023, the resort partnered with Mars Sustainable Solutions and, after a pilot with reef stars, launched the BIG BUILD project, in operation since 2024 and described as the largest single installation, with more than 1,000 reef stars. The coral restoration project on the house reef has existed since 2015 and reached 1,500 reef star structures (MARRS) deployed in April 2026.
