Dahab, South Sinai, Egypt
Three Pools is named for three sandy pools in the fringing reef at the eponymous Bedouin camp north of Dahab town. Divers enter through one of the pools, swim out through a coral channel at 5 metres and reach the reef edge at 8 metres, where the wall drops to 30 metres. The site is sheltered, the reef intact and the pools themselves fill with juveniles, making this an excellent shallow training and snorkelling area. Wall life includes anthias, butterflyfish, parrotfish, lionfish and the typical Red Sea hard coral cover. Turtles and the occasional eagle ray pass. Currents are very mild. Visibility 20–25 metres. The site is also a popular freediving spot due to its calm conditions.
