Dahab, South Sinai, Egypt
The Islands (also known as Islands South or Eel Garden South) is a sheltered shore dive in south Dahab, named for two large coral pinnacle 'islands' rising from a sandy lagoon at 6–18 metres. Divers enter from a Bedouin camp and follow a coral channel out to the lagoon, then weave between the two islands and through a maze of coral heads, swim-throughs and small overhangs. The site is often considered Dahab's most playful coral garden, with abundant anthias, butterflyfish, parrotfish, lionfish and masked pufferfish, plus shrimps, crabs and the occasional octopus and Spanish dancer at night. Turtles are regular. Currents are typically very mild and the maximum depth is shallow, making this a popular Open Water site, night dive and macro photography location. Visibility 20 metres typical.
