Tanjung Makoi is a rocky promontory in the Dampier Strait with depths ranging from 2 to 25 meters, starting from a shallow reef covered in anthias and fusiliers that descends gently to maximum depth. In crevices beneath the rocks are found wobbegong sharks, blue-spotted stingrays, and the rare ghost pipefish, while pygmy seahorses camouflage themselves in the corals. Variable current—ranging from none to strong—classifies the site as intermediate and requires attention to tide planning.
