Shaab James is the name given to a stretch of reef north of Stone Beach, on the eastern side of Giftun Grande. From a sandy slope a long, narrow plateau extends towards the south, and below its edge there are a few beautiful overhangs. The plateau teems with schooling fish, and with luck turtles and eagle rays appear.
On a dive in June 2024 there were plenty of fish, above all anthias and fusiliers, as well as morays, groupers, butterflyfish and wrasses. On that dive the bottom was a little bare at the start, but towards the end very beautiful corals appeared. At the same time there was a large amount of plastic bottles on the plateau, and a clean-up was needed.
