Egypt
The northern plateau of Sha'ab Elba Nord is narrow and slopes gently on both sides; along its eastern edge there is a row of gorgonians, much of the bottom is carpeted with small yellow soft corals and, about 30 m of swimming away, stands a solitary gorgonian of around 2 m covered in purple soft corals. The western wall has plenty of soft and hard corals, jacks and other medium-sized passing fish, and clouds of sardines emerge from the crevices. At the end of this wall, a large channel cuts through the reef to the southern face, where the boat is moored. The southern wall has red anemones, soft corals and swim-through caves; among the pelagics at the site are tuna and jacks.
