Sakhwat Abu Galawa is the northernmost site of the Abu Galawa reefs. A plateau of coral gardens shelters a narrow lagoon over a sandy bottom there. The site is frequently used for night dives.
Purple soft corals and gorgonians, both true and false, give the place a particular charm, and on the way back you pass big gorgonians. Gobies and their shrimps are everywhere, while surgeonfish and unicornfish patrol the top of the reef. Turtles appear in the coral garden, and dolphins pass by occasionally.
On the slope of the three coral hills at the edge of the plateau, scorpionfish, stonefish and rays appear. With sharp eyes and some luck, you can find the frogfish that lives in a coral block on the plateau.
