Egypt
Ras Amira's sandy seabed is covered in small coral pinnacles, forming a coral garden with the typical fauna of the area. With luck, eagle rays show up and, occasionally, the feather tail stingray (Pastinachus). In May 2024, there was an anemone with two resident anemonefish on the mooring line pinnacle.
In May 2014, a massive flood devastated the Taba Heights resort and carried silt into the sea, and most sites in the area went unvisited for almost a decade. In the Taba area, turtles are seen across the whole area rather than at one site, crossing the seabed without hurrying. Glass fish form clouds so thick they hide the coral and are present on almost every site in Taba. In the north of the gulf, the water usually cools from December to March, and at that time it is common to add a hood or a vest to the 5 mm suit.
