The artificial reefs of RAM-G4 and the neighbouring Parque dos Meros were sunk on 9 June 2000 and, in 2013, became part of the Currais Island National Marine Park. G4 belongs to a large artificial reef program with about 40 areas some 12 km offshore, formed by concrete blocks and reef balls about 1.5 m high. Each group of the RAM system, such as G4, is divided into several smaller subgroups, and one of them is known by the code RAM G4-3. A fish census recorded 51 species at G4.
