Praia do Julião was once called Prainha do Sul and Praia do Remanso. Its current name honours a caiçara born on the beach in the 19th century, and his descendants run a restaurant there. The stretch of soft sand is 268 m long, with almond trees and a stream.
The beach's many rock formations create natural pools that are good for watching fish with a snorkel. In these pools and in the waters of the islet in front, which is home to plenty of marine life, there are turtles and many fish. The islet lies 300 m from the beach, hosts a nesting colony of migratory birds and serves as a refuge for seabirds.
On this coast, the best days for freediving tend to be sunny ones with a calm sea, preferably in the morning. In autumn and winter, the water in the region tends to be clearer.
