Brazil
Praia de Tapuá lies on Ilha Guaíba, which hosts the largest seahorse (cavalos-marinhos) conservation project in the region. Vale's port lies on the back side of Ilha Guaíba, and a long railway bridge links the island to the mainland, carrying the ore train. There are records that the Ilha Guaíba area was used in the past for activities linked to iron ore extraction.
