Brazil
Praia da Tartaruga is a snorkeling spot, and its waters allow diving to watch fish and corals. With mask and snorkel you can see several species of colorful fish. In the right-hand corner of the beach, snorkelers see lots of small fish. On a submerged ledge 100–150 m from shore, in front of a red-earth slope to the right of the beach, there are schools of surgeonfish in several colors, adult and juvenile French angelfish, queen angelfish and large tiger puffers, along with colorful gorgonians and large brain corals.
The name comes from sea turtles: the cove is a nesting site for three different species. The right side of the beach is part of the Parque Estadual da Costa do Sol. The beach tends to have the warmest water on the peninsula.
