Brazil
Just off Praia da Justa lies Ilha do Maracujá, an islet so close that you can reach it by swimming. At very low tide, you can walk to the islet. Turtles and botos are frequent in the waters of the beach.
The beach is reached by a trail of about 10 minutes from the right-hand end of Praia de Ubatumirim or, more usually, by walking through the water, which at low tide is no deeper than waist height. At high tide, the way is the trail, an easy one that goes up and down the hill in about 18 minutes of walking.
The origin of the name is disputed: some say the beach fits snugly between Ubatumirim and the long point of land, and others that it honors Justa, an independent woman from elsewhere who was among the first to wear trousers.
