Ilhabela, São Paulo, Brazil
Praia do Portinho, on the west coast of Ilhabela, is a shallow site up to 7 m known as the Turtle Route, with calm waters sheltered from the wind. The large-rock bottom hosts green turtles, rays, butterflyfish and angelfish, with a notable underwater caiçara fisherman statue that attracts marine life. Shore entry directly from the beach, ideal for baptism dives and beginner divers.
