Together with Ponta do Boi, Ponta da Talhada forms one of the largest drop-offs in Ilhabela. The rocky shore has very rugged terrain, with huge rock walls, crevices and boulders, and climbers have opened a climbing route there. In the Ponta do Boi area, the fauna includes large passing fish and large bottom fish, as well as cetaceans.
