The Pontinha and Caieira pools are enjoyed at low tide. Besides the wild scenery of the island's southern side, the Caieira-Pontinha-Pedra Alta trail draws visitors with the archipelago's geology, its birdlife and its flora. Along the way there is a stop at the Mirante da Pedra Alta lookout, from where sharks and fishing birds can be spotted. March to July is usually the rainy season on Noronha, and the trails get very muddy, requiring more care and time.
