The Barra Grande pools lie in front of the beach of the same name, a little north of the centre of Maragogi, just 2 km from the sand. The natural pool area has a perimeter of about 2.68 km and covers about 43.8 ha.
The reefs of Maragogi have records of 31 reef fish species, and the damselfish Stegastes fuscus is the most abundant. For the Maragogi pools, the best months tend to be October to January.
