Brazil
At the eastern corner of Praia da Pacuíba, medium-sized rocks form a reef with a fine sand bottom and many crevices, with sergeant majors, badejo and garoupa groupers and assorted ornamental fish. In Ilhabela, the water averages about 22 °C and can reach 27 °C from mid-January until the arrival of autumn. In early summer, thermoclines, bands of extremely cold water in the water column, can occasionally occur in Ilhabela.
