Brazil
The Queen was launched in 1785 for the British East India Company and made four voyages to India and China. On the fifth voyage, she was sailing in convoy with the Kent, with 440 people on board bound for Madras and China, when she called at Salvador to take on water. The Kent stayed in Salvador for more than a week and took the troops and the surviving passengers to Calcutta. The Queen's position is uncertain, as she may have drifted out of the bay; the site associated with her today is the Banco da Panela, off the port of Salvador, where many pieces of crockery and other debris can be seen. With so many shipwrecks in the area, it is hard to say which ship these remains belong to, and the wreckage has already been explored. The site lies on the route of the boats crossing between Salvador and Ilha de Itaparica, near the Forte São Marcelo.
