Maldives
In the crevices there are colourful reef fish such as anthias, wrasse, parrotfish and surgeonfish, as well as lobsters, lionfish and numerous nudibranchs, which makes the site good for macro photography. On the west side of the reef there are blue soft corals, feather stars and starfish, and shrimp, rays and, sometimes, dolphins also appear. In Shaviyani, the best time to dive usually runs from November to April, with calm seas and sunny skies. From May to October, during the southwest monsoon, plankton usually increases sightings of manta rays and whale sharks in Shaviyani.
