Laura Security was built in 1956 in Sweden as the cargo ship Baltica and went through several owners and names, among them Baltic and Niki, before becoming Laura Security in 1981. On 22 April 1983, bound for Ras Shukeir from Suez with a cargo of fuel oil, she ran aground off Ras Shukeir and was declared a total loss. Many of the hull plates have fallen away, and sunlight streams between the vertical supports, lighting up the shoals of fish. The wreck catches the afternoon sun.
