In 2010, Laje de Noronha, in the Mar de Fora, was still a site under development. Lots of fish move around the rocky ledge, and there are encounters with sharks, rays and turtles. Animals seen at the site include a lemon shark, the spotted eagle ray, bico-fino sharks, barracudas and schools of pirajiba. In December 2010, the sea in the Mar de Fora area was a little calmer than in September, the month regarded as the diving season in Noronha.
