Maldives
It is a small steel coastal cargo vessel intentionally sunk beside a coral pinnacle, near Dhigufinolhu. The wreck has no known name and sits upright on the bottom, and it was sunk to form an artificial reef. The name of the site comes from the giri, the neighbouring pinnacle, which is also worth a dive on its own.
Today the hull is colonised by orange, red and yellow sponges and by Tubastraea cup coral, as well as soft coral. It shelters glassfish, batfish, frogfish, lionfish and moray eels, with big schools of glassfish inside, gobies in the holes and a large school of batfish around it. Turtles also show up there.
The best season tends to be from December to May, when the sea is calmer.
