Ilha dos Capões

Ilha dos Capões has a rock and coral formation with small caves, and turtles are a common sighting. In April 2011, the decree that created the Costa do Sol State Park included the island in the Pau-Brasil Unit (Area 25), covering 4.23 hectares. The island was also a study site for non-geniculate calcareous algae of southeastern Brazil. In Cabo Frio, conditions tend to be best from September to April, when the sea tends to be calmer. In the region, the warmest period usually runs from December to March.
