Fernando de Noronha, Pernambuco, Brazil
Ilha do Frade is an outcrop of phonolite rock from the Remédios formation, with fractures visible even from a distance, and its shape resembles that of Morro do Pico. It is a classic spot to see rays, turtles and schools of fish, and lobsters and moray eels also tend to show up. Turtles appear mostly on the side facing the open sea, and there are several kinds of corals and sponges. In the Mar de Fora, the sea tends to be calm from November to March, especially in January and February, when the Mar de Dentro gets rough.
