Brazil
At the Ponta Nordeste of Ilha do Breu there is plenty of marine life over a bottom of rock formations, small caves and walls, with turtles as the highlight. On the southern outer side, passing fish appear, including large ones. The surrounding fauna is quite varied and plentiful, and big encounters are not rare. Night diving at the island is described as an explosion of life, with good opportunities for underwater photography. In April 2011, the decree that created the Costa do Sol State Park included the island in the Pau-Brasil Unit (Area 27), covering 6.18 hectares.
