Portinho is the most sheltered stretch of Ilha das Couves, with rock formations on the bottom and a good variety of fish. Divers seek it out for some quiet when there are many tourists at As Ilhas, the neighbouring island. Ilha das Couves is inhabited, and records indicate a single family of fishermen living there.
