Brazil
Ilha das Aranhas is made up of two L-shaped islands, which offer sheltered spots for every wind direction. There are crevices where you can dive inside the rock. There are two versions of where the name comes from: one points to the many spiders found at the site, the other to the shape of the rocks, which look like a heap of spiders. The rocky shores hold diverse marine life, and both islands have a variety of fish.
Diving here is recommended on days with swell coming from the south and during the waxing or waning moon, when the tide varies less. In the region, the southern swell tends to bring very clear and slightly warmer water. In Florianópolis diving goes on all year, but November to April tends to be the best season, with more days of clear water, pleasant temperatures and smaller swell.
