Maldives
Ibrahim Giri was found in February 2010, on a full-day exploration trip to the southeast corner of Lhaviyani. The trip followed the discovery of AliHa Giri the year before, and aimed to find out whether other similar sites were hidden in the atoll. The area had been out of reach of dive trips until the arrival of the faster dhoni 'Marta', whose crew consulted maps and local fishermen. After a series of false starts, the group of divers stumbled upon the coral of Ibrahim Giri, which was the first site of the trip. The site has table corals more than 2 meters and soft coral pinnacles that rise from the sea floor.
