The name Taba Hilton comes from the beach hotel, whose construction began in 1979 as the Aviya-Sonesta Beach Hotel, while the Sinai was under Israeli control, next to Rafi Nelson's Nelson Village. The hotel became the Hilton Taba on September 1, 1989, reopened as the Taba Hotel & Nelson Village in 2017 and was renamed Steigenberger Hotel & Nelson Village in 2023. Underwater, a sandy slope leads to a bottom of varied corals with many fish, such as anthias, lionfish, parrotfish, pufferfish, barracuda and jackfish.
