The German Channel is an artificial channel cut by the Germans in the early 20th century through the barrier reef south of Koror, today recognized as one of the most reliable manta ray dive sites in the world. The cleaning station at 17-20 m of depth receives black-chest manta rays (_Mobula birostris_) year-round, especially between November and April, with excellent visibility sometimes exceeding 30 m on the incoming tide.
