It lies inside the atoll, with features typical of a low-energy reef: corals with several growth forms, gentle slopes and lagoon patch reefs. It is the type locality of the nudibranch Eubranchus putnami, a species described in 2023, whose holotype was collected with scuba at this site in April 2019. The cushion seastar Culcita schmideliana, a predator of juvenile corals, occurs at the site, where the lowest density of the study was recorded. The coral cover measured at the site was 19.8%. It was the reef with the lowest three-dimensional complexity among the six measured by photogrammetry in southeastern Faafu.
