Maldives
The channel is becoming known for interesting shark encounters. In the region, the neighboring islet of Dhigulaabadhoo, with a mangrove bay linked to the sea by channels, has been protected as a nursery for rays and sharks, and many juvenile sharks and rays were found in the bay. In Huvadhoo, the dry northeast monsoon, from December to April, usually brings the best conditions, with calm weather. The southwest monsoon, from May to November, usually brings more wind and is cited as the best time for large pelagics.
