Farol II, also called Piscina Oeste do Farol, is a pool connected by channels to the outer side of the atoll, in the northwest sector of the ring, with a rocky bottom. It lies in the zone where strong waves break during swells.
In 2007 censuses, Thalassoma noronhanum and Stegastes rocasensis had the highest adult densities among the five fish studied in the pool. In the same censuses, Farol II had an average of 147.23 recruits, newly settled juveniles, of Thalassoma noronhanum per 100 m². In 1999, a sponge sampling recorded seven species there.
In December 2011, colonies of the sea squirt Didemnum granulatum were collected at Farol II. The same pool yielded paratypes of the sea squirt Trididemnum rocasensis, a new species whose name refers to the atoll.
