Sharm El Sheikh, South Sinai, Egypt
Far Garden is the northernmost of three coral gardens (Far, Middle, Near) along the bay between Sharm El Maya and Ras Nasrani. The site is built around a 'cathedral' formation of coral pillars between 18 and 25 metres, intersected by sandy gullies and a small overhang. The reef is renowned for the size and variety of its hard coral pillars and for resident Napoleon wrasses and giant moray eels. Currents are usually weak, making this an excellent intermediate dive. Anthias, butterflyfish, lionfish, peacock groupers and the occasional reef octopus are reliable; turtles and eagle rays pass through. Visibility 25 metres. The site is part of the Sharm protected area buffer zone.
