In the area, the large lagoon formed by the Fandira reef, Torfa El Shahed, is also called Ben El Gebel, a name meaning 'between mountains' or 'between islands'. The dive can be done as a drift with boat pick-up, covering the Fandira coral block and the coral garden towards the twin blocks of Shaab Dorfa, passing the site's caves. On the reef slope there is a narrow plateau strip with varying gradients. When the current and waves allow it, you can head east with the reef on your right; in the opposite direction, you reach the boat anchorage at Torfa.
There is a good chance of seeing a variety of big fish, and tunas, giant trevallies, barracudas and turtles are often seen in the open water. On a dive in April 2022, the group met 13 eagle rays and a large school of barracudas. Around the same time, a drift turned up a devil scorpionfish, scissortail gobies, giant morays, a yellow-spotted flatworm, Durban dancing shrimps and banded cleaner shrimps.
