El Gilwa East is a coral garden, with coral blocks interspersed with tongues of sand. In the El Gilwa area, the animals reported include Napoleon fish, barracudas, stonefish, eagle rays, hawksbill turtle, giant morays and honeycomb moray, as well as octopus and nudibranchs.
