Darwin's Arch, at the far north of Galápagos near Darwin Island, is the most legendary spot in the archipelago — the submerged platform concentrates tornadoes of hammerhead sharks (hundreds in Jun–Nov) and large female whale sharks (Jul–Dec). The arch collapsed in May 2021 and is now called The Pillars, but the marine spectacle remains unchanged. Pelagic drift dive with very strong currents, exclusive to liveaboards and advanced divers.
