Dives around Ilha da Vitória can reveal turtles, rays and a wide variety of fish. On the boat ride to the archipelago, it is common to spot bottlenose dolphins, Bryde's whales and even humpback whales. Ilha da Vitória is home to a traditional caiçara community that lives from artisanal fishing, and the nets and fish traps around the archipelago should be left undisturbed. In Ilhabela, the diving season tends to be best between December and March.
