Brazil
At Costão de Fora, large rocks covered in shellfish draw fish that come to feed, and flounder and rays can be seen on the sandy bottom. It is the most sheltered site at Ilha das Couves when a strong southwest wind blows. On the south side of Ilha das Couves it is common to find passing fish such as snook, bluefish and mackerel.
The Couves archipelago is the last one on the São Paulo coast before Rio de Janeiro. On the boat ride to the islands of Comprida, Couves and Rapada it is common to see groups of dolphins. Around these islands, the water averages about 24 °C over the year and can reach 27 °C between February and March.
