Fernando de Noronha, Pernambuco, Brazil
Cordilheiras lies on the Mar de Dentro side and has received as many as 1,035 dives in a single year. Its volcanic ridges are covered with sponges and algae, which attract schools of sergeant majors, butterflyfish and wrasse. Turtles and rays are regular visitors. Marine life ranges from nudibranchs to pelagic species, and in April 2015 divers recorded barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda) at the site.
In Fernando de Noronha, from March to July the sea is generally calm on both the Mar de Dentro and Mar de Fora sides, allowing access to all of the archipelago's dive sites.
