Dahab, South Sinai, Egypt
Caves is a north Dahab shore site between the Blue Hole and Ras Abu Galum, named for a series of overhangs and small caverns cut into the reef wall. Divers enter from a Bedouin camp through a coral channel and follow the wall north at 18–25 metres, where the caverns shelter glassfish schools, soldierfish and lionfish. The wall drops past 40 metres and is decorated with gorgonian fans and large soft coral colonies. The reef remains pristine due to limited road access (the camp is reached by track from the Blue Hole). Resident giant moray eels, masked pufferfish and Napoleon wrasses are reliable, and turtles are regular. Currents are typically mild. Visibility 25–30 metres. Suitable for Advanced Open Water level due to depth and remote location.
