Fernando de Noronha, Pernambuco, Brazil
The Cagarras area is split into two dives, Cagarras Fundas and Cagarras Rasas, both in sheltered coves. At Cagarras Fundas, rocky pillars extend from the surface down to the sandy bottom. The submerged canyons are frequented by rays and barracudas. The place is known as 'bird shit', because of the white bird droppings on the surrounding rocks.
There are large vase-shaped sponges, and the site is home to reef fish that are unusual in the archipelago, such as the queen angelfish, the rock beauty and the gray angelfish. Rays can also be seen feeding on the bottom. There are also corals, red sponges and lots of marine life.
