Maldives
Mantas move in and out of the channel, and there are also barracudas, eagle rays and turtles. Inside the channel there are coral blocks and, at the corner, the reef flattens out and is fully covered in healthy hard coral fields. The Kandihera–Maa Kandu channel (Manta Point Addu) was declared a marine protected area in September 2018. In Addu people usually dive all year and it is common to see mantas at any time; the warmest water usually falls between January and March.
