Brazil
Before becoming a reef, the tugboat Bellatrix collided with the Meireles reef and ran aground there, in the Port of Mucuripe, in Fortaleza (CE), due to a navigation error, with no record of personal or environmental damage. As had already been done with the Walsa, cameras were placed underwater to record the sinking, and the tugboats descended gently until they settled in sailing position. The superstructure is almost entirely intact, with the wheelhouse on top and the intact funnel just behind it, and the internal passages are wide, with many openings that let in light. Along this coast, the best season usually runs from September to May, peaking in December and January, when navigation tends to be calmer; in June, July and August the rains usually leave the sea rough.
